Program Overview
Operator-to-CEO Is a practical executive leadership program for Alberta trucking company owners ready to scale beyond founder dependency. As trucking companies grow, owners often become the bottleneck for critical decisions, limiting the organization's ability to scale sustainably. This program addresses that challenge by equipping participants with the following:
- Leadership systems
- Decision frameworks
- Management capabilities needed to transition from working in the business to leading the business.
Delivered in person at the Alberta Logistics Centre of Excellence office (Suite A, 2411 4 Street NW, Calgary), the program consists of four highly interactive half-day workshops delivered over eight weeks. The experience emphasizes practical application through facilitated working sessions, peer discussion, real business scenarios, and implementation between workshops rather than theory alone.
Participants leave with:
- Practical tools
- Stronger leadership systems
- Improved decision-making processes
- A clear framework for building a business that can grow beyond founder dependency.

Why This Program Matters Now
Alberta’s trucking sector is dominated by small, owner-led companies. Many grow successfully through experience and operational expertise, but around 7–10 trucks, growth often begins to stall. This has contributed to a gap between Alberta’s many small operators and its larger carriers. Helping more locally owned trucking companies move through this stage creates a stronger middle of established businesses with greater capacity to invest, innovate, create jobs, and compete. Operator-to-CEO is designed to help more Alberta operators take that next step.
